Watering Holes...

...and the like...

In the beginning.....

there was Finnegan's...not to mention J&J's, Branc's...

Finnegan's - still a dump but it's our dump!
Right:J & J's bar and pizza  - still  there! - NY Avenue and 12th Street.
Below:Brancato's Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria, now a steak and seafood restaurant.

Did you

ever think

it would be

a

houseboat?

But don't try to order in these:

...back then we'd go to Linck's back door, buy lobsters, throw pails, butter, beer, potatos (not necessarily in that order)etc in our trunks, and off to Wincoma or Eaton's neck for a beach blast...

Above: Site of Linck's Log Cabin, long gone up in flames and smoke, now condos.

Left: NY Avenue and Jericho Turnpike. Site of Superior Diner where oncoming cars are stopped for the light; site of the Chrysler dealer on the other corner; takenfrom the site of the Oldmobile dealer, now a Staples.

Below:Town launching ramp, 25A, Cold Spring Harbor. Sites of a rickety clam bar to the left and The Mooring, a fine restaurant, both of which burned to the groundin the late 50's or early 60's.

Loved that

clam bar--the

Mooring was

for, well...

parents...

... and so was --er--Glynn's:

Site of Glynn's Restaurant, East Main Street, now a Mexican restaurant.

...and all the standbys:

Below left:Site of Stewart Arms bowling alley, four   lanes upstairs, six downstairs, with pin boys.

Below right:Site of Old Town Barn, Italian restaurant and pizzeria.

Below:The Thatched Cottage, now a catering hall.

(Photographer's note: Hmmmmm, maybe a site for the 50th?)

...and when all else fails...      ...the Shack!

The Shack, 25A in Centerport. a much upgraded menu...and prices!
