(Passed away 2002)

After Graduation from Franklin and Marshall College I entered the United States Air Force as a 2nd LT. Somehow I found my niche and was awarded an early Regular Commission with the idea I would make the Air Force my career. However after 8 years on active duty I was enticed by a number of lucrative offers from industry looking to draw on my success in developing Procurement Strategies and in Contract Management. Thus I accepted a Reserve Commission and left active duty. I began a very rewarding 26 year career with United Technologies Corporation retiring in 1996. I also retired as a LT. Col. in the Air force Reserves.

Someone, who will remain nameless, wrote in my year book- “To the greatest- be good and sleep alone- best of everything.” I didn’t heed that advice. I too married early, had three wonderful children who became very successful students and are now loving parents of 4 grandchildren. But the marriage ended in divorce. However, my loving wife Judy has made the song “Love Is Better the Second Time Around” a reality. Judy’s daughter has become a daughter to me as well.

On the Activity Page in my Huntingtonian someone put an arrow pointing to the beach with a note saying: “Pete: Life, this is perfection. I hope you find it” I wrote this sitting on the porch of our home on Cape Cod. Daily we are blessed with opportunity to walk the beaches, and kayak the marsh lands appreciating the nature that surrounds us. A special day culminates with an afternoon sail on old Cape Cod Bay.

Huntington put sand in my shoes, wind in my sails, life long friendships and sent me into life with roar of the class of 56. Go Blue devils! See you in 2006.

P.S.

At F&M, Jon Rasmussen and I roomed together, and became Fraternity brothers. After graduation we were reunited with Dick Wiley. We have enjoyed a life long friendship. I mourn their passing.
