Hi all! After HS & thanks
to Jane Simrell, in 1959 I married a bacteriologist & worked in his
lab at Hopkins until baby # 1 arrived. We were at Cold Spring Harbor
Lab when Carl met up with Dr. Demerec who was working at Brookhaven NatL
Lab so Carl went there. I was back on LI. In 1961,
Carl decided that I would like to be near family & friends so he became
the Divisional Chairman of Science, Math & Technology at Suffolk Co. Comm.
College. I was still on LI. In 1975 he lost most of his speaking voice & retired.
Moved to Salem, NY with by then 3 kids.
Oldest son, Eric, owns Sherman's General Store in Rupert, VT. He has a son
who just graduated from VT Tech & daughter 12. His wife was killed in a
car accident almost 4 yrs ago. Daughter Lee, divorced mother of twins, another
girl & a son who just turned 13, received her BA from Excelsior last year.
One twin will be a senior at SUNY Albany, other twin is in the NAVY at Lemoore
Naval Air Station, married & mother to my great grand daughter. How's that
for only being 39? Son #2 is a builder & at present is living with me while
he is building his house on 8 acres next to me. Carl & I will be alone
again within the month. Yeah!
Back in 1958 I gave up a baby for adoption. Well in 1995 she found me & we
have been having a grand time ever since. She has had a wonderful life, husband & 2
sons. Lives & teaches Special Ed. in CA. In 1978,
I bought a retail Bake Shop which I operated for 10 years. Met loads of great
people. Thought I had retired but no I found a part time job at a local florist.
Again met loads of great people. Did everything but arrange flowers.
In 1993,
I finally retired. Keep busy with family, friends, gardening, cooking, baking
but best of all in 1989 Carl & I did a 10,000 mile trip around the USA.
Took 6 wks & only stayed 6 nights in motels. We hit every family person & friend
along the way. It was great. So we did it again in 1994 & 1996. So glad
we did because of Carl's health now. Love my life. Love all the biographies.
