I graduated from The Citadel in Charleston, S.C. with a BS in Civil Engineering.
I started my professional career with Grumman Aircraft as a structural engineer.
After several years with Grumman, I made a career change by taking an engineering
position in the steel industry. That change moved me to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
After five years of designing steel making machinery, I accepted a position
with PPG Industries in Pittsburgh. I held various engineering positions in
the fiber glass business and then moved on to manage process and product research
groups. My final assignment, as head of engineering and construction, moved
my wife and me to North Carolina. I had the opportunity of traveling extensively
while with PPG. Many of my trips were to Europe and the Far East, which I
found very interesting and educational. I retired last year after twenty nine
years with PPG.
During my time with Grumman, I met and married a wonderful woman, nee Carol
Moore, from Western Pennslyvania who was a language teacher on Long Island.
We have enjoyed our lives together for the past thirty eight years. We have
two daughters who are happily married. We also have a fourteen month old grand-daughter
and expect another in September of this year.
Carol and I are enjoying retirement. We both play golf and bridge and we do
enjoy traveling in the US and in Europe.
