Hi, Everyone!
Your lives have been so fascinating to read. You all have certainly made an
impact and lived life to the fullest! Now that school is over for the
summer,
I will write a few words about me. No, I haven't retired yet but probably will
within the next couple of years. I still enjoy teaching--not burned
out yet and
feel that I'm still fairly effective. This is my 30th year at my present school
in Frederick,MD. I have taught 3rd and 4th grades for most of that time.
Upon graduating from high school, I attended Hood College in Frederick, MD.
Ginger, Barbara, and Maggie were also there although we each pursued different
careers and went our separate ways after graduation. While at Hood, I majored
in Eary Childhood Eduation and meet my husband,Charlie. We have been married
for 42 years and have two children and five grandchildren.
Since Charlie was
a native Fredericktonian I secured a teaching position in Frederick and we
lived there for two years. We then moved to Cecil County and then back
to Huntington
for five years. In 1972 we returned to Frederick and have been here ever
since. Our children and grandchildren are only about 20 miles away so
we do get to
spend time with them which we so much enjoy. Our family's greatest contribution
to life is that of service to the community. Our daughter, Beth, is a
labor
and delivery nurse, and David. our son, is a Police Officer. David served
a year in Bosnia with the U.N. Peace Keeping Corp. Charlie has devoted
his life
to entertaining school children, Scout groups, nursing homes, civic groups,
etc. as a professional storyteller. He just recently retired from that
profession
and now is going back into the ministry.
I devote a lot of my free time to my Church - teaching over the years and
singing in the choir. I also sing with a small group of women "The Centennial Belles".
We sing at various churches and civic groups. We have a lot of fun. Over the
years, I had the wonderful opportunity to travel through Europe singing with
the Huntington Chorale. What a life!!! We are all so fortunate to be able share
our lives with each other. Thanks Jane and Ford for doing this for our classmates.
Come on 2006!!!!
In friendship,
Mary Ann Brush Gearinger
