Hello to all,
Can any of you guys forget graduation????We had a class that loved to party!!!!
Bob Badeer, do you remember going through town in you car with so many of
us hanging onto the seat, bumpers, etc???!!! What a great day!
After graduation I worked for Lizza Bros. for about a year. I was going nowhere
sooooo in October '57 I enlisted in the army. Took basic in Fort Gorden, GA.
The second eight weeks at Fort Bragg. Upon 16 weeks of infantry training they
finally ask-----haha----TOLD me either drive a tank or become a medic. George,
I agree with you, no steel coffin for me. I chose medic, schooled at Fort
Bragg then shipped (literally) to Germany. I beat you there George! Stationed
in Wurzburg in the 10th Field Hospital, yes, those training fields in Germany
are cold, but I still had a ball. Oh the beer/cognac!!! Got to travel all
over Europe at the government's expense. Norway was my favorite. I lived pretty
good on $96 a month.
Upon my return to the states in '60 I got a job with the infamous Lilco and
became a lineman. Even though it was a good job I didn't feel right, so I
made a critical career change. I became a police officer for Nassau County.
Sometime early in my tenure as a police officer I received my BA in Political
Science from New York Tech.
Like many of you I divorced and joined the crowd of divorcees. Proud of all
you guys that made it last. I have three children, Greg and Erin and adopted
daughter Meredith from Viet Nam. Meredith has give me two grandchildren, Brandon
8 and Brianna 2.
I had various assignments with the police department throughout Nassau County.
(Glad I didn't bump into any of you guys, haha.) I retired after 20 years
of service in April '89. That April I landed a lucrative job with an ad agency
delivering film and packages all over New York state. I delivered at least
twice a week to the WTC Tower I. However, I had fully retired and moved to
Texas long before 9-11.
I now live with my present lovely wife Joann in Livingston, Texas. Texas is
far different from what you see in those old western movies. You never see
any trees in those --- there are many national forests around this area. We
live in a lakeshore home on a 95 sq. mile lake. Love to travel, fish and coin
collecting. So ya'll come on down and enjoy the best bar-b-cue and chicken
fried steak and of course to fish.
A surprise last month. My son Greg called to say he had become a police officer
for NY City. A great move of course. After a masters degree in finance and
a few years out there he chose to become a cop. Go figure??
Enough for now---hope to see all of you at the mini-reunion in Florida.
Love you guys,
Roger (Vinny) Aliperti
Roger????Now that's another story.
Me in Texas (How?) that is another story.
