I was married right out of nurses training - much too young - ten years and
three wonderful kids later, divorced. Moved back to Long Island and less than
year later, re-met Don Halligan - anybody remember that great guy - class
of '54 ?? He had never married and I grabbed him! He was building the World
Trade Center at the time, (our five grandchildren are convinced he did it
single-handedly!). We were married in '72.
I was a school nurse in the Huntington School District for 21 years. My daughter
teaches at J.Taylor Finley Middle School, my youngest son works at the High
School, and a second son runsa bunkhouse in the Adirondacks and is a hunting
and fishing guide.
After 22 years
in Huntington, we moved to Greenport, NY, both taking early retirement.
Don and I inherited my father's beautiful waterfront home, and it
is
a slice of heaven.
Sadly, Don died suddenly of a heart attack, just over a year ago...(needless
to
say, I support early retirement!). I'm still trying to get used to widowhood.
I'm not crazy about it! Family and friends are an immeasurable help!
Would love to hear from anyone! -- Em
